School Improvement Plan (2026-27)
The mission of PDES is to ensure that our students achieve the highest level of personal and academic growth. We emphasize academic rigor, enrichment, support when necessary, and promote positive behavioral expectations.
Vision
We aspire to have a positive school climate that supports all learners in achieving mastery of relevant academic standards and build positive relationships within the school community.
Values
Whole Child Learning: Traditional academics should be melded with the arts, physical activity, and positive SEL support to build a diverse skillset for all of our students
Students will receive a well rounded education that will progress with age appropriate vertical articulation of content standards.

Needs Assessment
To identify academic areas of needs, we triangulated our data between classroom performance, performance on STAR testing, and RICAS results. Based on our results, it is evident that our students are performing well with Reading and Reading Comprehension. What is not told by STAR testing that is told by RICAS and classroom results is our need to improve our writing performance. We have priority areas in increasing writing opportunities, vertically and horizontally articulating the writing programming, and calibrating our understanding of expected writing standards. In mathematics, we recently implemented a new state approved program, which has similarities to the previous program but uncovered the need for curriculum mapping to occur in order to expose students to all standards while pursuing mastery. Furthermore, we will explore our mathematics curriculum based on having it implemented for two years at this point. We are at a point where we can review internal data trends and supplement power standards that are under-addressed or are not universally understood by our students. Teachers who implemented targeted curriculum supplementation have higher student outcomes than those who followed the curriculum verbatim.

Measurable Goals
Goal #1 - 60% of students will be proficient in the RICAS ELA Assessment
Goal #2 - 60% of students will be proficient on the RICAS Math Assessment
Goal #3 - 50% of 5th grade students will be proficient on the NGSA
Priority 2: Strengthen PBIS System
