Rainbows at Peace Dale

Spring is on the way, and our preschool students are celebrating the season with a hands-on art project that is as joyful as it is creative. With tissue paper, cotton balls, and a little sparkle, students created bright, textured rainbows that show just how much learning can happen through play.

A springtime project that builds fine motor skills

Tearing tissue paper into small pieces may look simple, but it is a powerful way to strengthen the small muscles in students’ hands and fingers. As students rip, pinch, and place each colorful piece, they are building the coordination needed for future writing and drawing.

Exploring color, texture, and creativity

This project invited students to experiment with materials and make choices.

  • Tissue paper added bold color.
  • Cotton balls created a soft, cloud-like texture.
  • Sparkles brought a little extra “springtime magic.”

Each rainbow turned out unique, which is one of the best parts of open-ended art.

Learning through joyful classroom moments

Projects like this support early learning in so many ways, from following directions to expressing ideas and practicing patience. Most importantly, they help students feel proud of what they can create.

We love seeing our preschool students bring big ideas to life with simple materials. These springtime rainbows are a reminder that creativity and learning go hand in hand.
